Steps for Range Cooker Installation
There are various steps for Range Cooker Installation. All gas appliance installations, including range cooker installation, must be carried out by a qualified engineer in accordance with Gas Safe regulations. Gas Safe is the current registration board which replaced CORGI on 1st April 2009. The range cooker installation connection is made using a flexible cooker hose; therefore allowing the appliance to be pulled out for cleaning behind. Before installation can commence, a clearance of a minimum of 650mm must be allowed between the top of the range cooker and the underneath of the extractor hood. In addition, a gap of 2.5mm must be left at either side of the cooker so it can be manoeuvred into place. Once the range cooker installation is completed, it will then be possible to build cabinets right up to the sides.
A range cooker installation starts by finding out where the mounting brackets are, so that once fitted, the appliance won’t tip over. They may or may not correspond with the existing brackets (it depends on if the new range cooker is broader). It is important that, even if there is a floor standing installation, the appliances level both from side to side and from front to rear. The gas supply should be turned off before initially examining the back of the cooker to locate the gas inlet. The size should match the existing gas supply line and rub pipe sealant on both ends of the fitting, before screwing the rigid end of the gas supply pipe into the gas inlet of the new range cooker. Installation is completed after the connection is tightened and the appliance is tested for any leaks.
