Flushing Radiators
Flushing radiators are required when they have a build up of corrosive debris, rust and limescale. Water is constantly flowing through radiators which causes rusting and debris to build up in the systems. Over time, the debris builds up to form deposits in the pipes and bottom of the radiators. Flushing radiators will eliminate these unwanted and corrosive deposits inside the central heating systems.
The built up deposits prevent the water from flowing properly through the radiator which leads to a damaging reduction in inefficiency of the central heating systems. Common central heating problems such as a leaky radiator or cold spots on your radiator, noisy boilers and fluctuating water temperatures could be as a result of accumulation of the deposits in the radiators and pipes. Not only does this cause higher gas and energy bills, it is likely to lead to the eventual break down of your whole central heating system! So, flushing radiators not only eliminates the debris for more efficiency, it improves heating and lowers gas bills.
When flushing radiators, a Power Flushing machine is used. A qualified engineer will attach the machine to the tail of the radiator and pump water and a chemical cleaning agent to dislodge and pump out the debris from the radiators. After flushing the radiators, the engineer will also pump clean water into the radiators and pipes to replace all the dirty water with pH neutral water. Flushing radiators usually takes between 4-8 hours depending on the size and condition of your central heating systems. The process requires minimal dismantling to the radiators so there is not the worry of disruption to the whole central heating system.
