Gas Oven Installation

A gas oven installation involves safely connecting a new or replacement gas oven to your property’s existing gas supply. This can be done using a certified bayonet fitting and stability chain for a free-standing cooker, or a permanent hard-wired gas connection for a built-in single or double oven, depending on the appliance and the layout of your kitchen.

Before your installation can go ahead, you will need an existing cooker point in the right location. If your kitchen has been reconfigured or you are moving your oven to a new position, a Gas Safe registered engineer will need to install a new gas point, and if the appliance requires it, a qualified electrician may also need to fit a dedicated switched connection.

It is imperative that you never attempt a gas oven installation yourself, as this is not only illegal but could also be potentially very dangerous. One of the main reasons for hiring a professional for a gas oven installation is because of their vast amounts of knowledge and wide skill set. A professional gas engineer will always ensure that the connection to your gas oven is made safe and tested for any leaks once an installation has been completed.

It is a legal requirement that a Gas Safe registered engineer must be the only person to install a gas appliance in any property. Gas Safe replaced Corgi on 1st April 2009.
