This information may also indicate when an appliances next needs to be serviced. The engineer would have to carry out checks, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flues or chimneys to make sure combustion products are removed to the outside<\/li>\n<li>Supply of fresh air, so gas burns properly<\/li>\n<li>The appliances burning the gas properly<\/li>\n<li>Checking gas safety devices are working properly and shutting the appliance off if a fault occurs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The difference between a gas safety check and a service is that a service includes a thorough clean of the appliance, as well as checks. A copy of the Gas Safety Record must be provided by landlords to give to their tenants within 28 days of the check and must be updated every 12 months.
